Higher Education Transformation Design Summit 2026

From 28 February to 2 March 2026, the United In Diversity Foundation (UID), in partnership with the Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center, Australian National University, EUNOIA EDUHUB, Politeknik Gajah Tunggal, and the Indonesia-Australia Business Council, convened the Indonesia’s Higher Education Transformation 2026 Design Summit in Jakarta. Held under the theme “Charting the Future of Higher Education in Indonesia,” the summit brought together more than 100 experts, rectors, and university leaders from across the country.

Designed as a dynamic, multi-location workshop, the summit embodied the spirit of “gotong royong” in co-creating a transformative roadmap for Indonesian universities.

Participants engaged in deep dialogue to share challenges, exchange visions for change, and contribute insights from existing higher education transformation efforts.

Sessions began at the UID Learning Hub (28 Feb–1 Mar), continued at Universitas Paramadina (2 Mar), and concluded at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (3 Mar), symbolizing strong collaboration between academia and government.

After four days of intensive stakeholder engagement, a clear consensus emerged on six priority areas for higher education transformation:

  1. Governance & Leadership
  2. Curriculum & Talent Development
  3. Internationalization & Engagement
  4. AI Upskilling & Digital Transformation
  5. Academic Quality & Accreditation
  6. Net Zero Campus & Sustainability

In the next few weeks, up to 30 international and national experts will be convened to contribute to one of the focus areas in the areas through workshops, conferences and dialogues with the final goal to improve Indonesian higher education and reach Golden Indonesia 2045.
